The city of Sandpoint is located in the Idaho Panhandle.

Sandpoint is located in Bonner County<1> (at the time of its founding, Sandpoint was located in Kootenai County) and is the County Seat for Bonner County.



While we don't have a date for the founding of Sandpoint, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Sandpoint has a population of 8,991 people<2> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Sandpoint had an population of 8,991 people. This is an increase of 22.08% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 31.54% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Sandpoint had a population of 7,365 people (or 18.02% of the total population of Bonner County). This makes Sandpoint the county's most populous community.

The population of Sandpoint represents 0.47% of the population of Idaho (which has 1,567,582 people), making it the state's 25th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 7,365 people, the population of Sandpoint increased 7.75% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 6,835 people).
