Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Pocatello had an population of 56,638 people. This is an increase of 4.39% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 10.05% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Pocatello had a population of 54,255 people (or 65.49% of the total population of Bannock County). This makes Pocatello the county's most populous community.

The population of Pocatello represents 3.46% of the total population of Idaho (which has 1,567,582 people), making it the state's 5th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 54,255 people, the population of Pocatello increased 5.42% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 51,466 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Pocatello was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<10>

From that list, the Pocatello post office opened in 1882.

We also found Pocatello in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
