Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Emmett had an population of 7,077 people. This is an increase of 7.93% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 28.91% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Emmett had a population of 6,557 people (or 39.22% of the total population of Gem County). This makes Emmett the county's most populous community.

The population of Emmett represents 0.42% of the population of Idaho (which has 1,567,582 people), making it the state's 27th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 6,557 people, the population of Emmett increased 19.44% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 5,490 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Emmett was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Emmett post office opened in 1885.
