Butte County was founded in 1917. Butte was created by taking area from Bingham, Blaine and Jefferson Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Butte had a population of 2,620 people. This is a decrease of 9.37% since the last Census (which gave a population of 2,891 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Butte represented 0.18% of the total population of Idaho.
