The community of Arco is the Seat for Butte County.

Butte County was founded in 1917. Butte was created by taking area from Bingham, Blaine and Jefferson Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Butte had a population of 2,620 people. This is a decrease of 9.37% since the last Census (which gave a population of 2,891 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Butte represented 0.18% of the total population of Idaho.
