Welcome to String Prairie ...

So far, we found very little information about String Prairie. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added String Prairie to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of String Prairie - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with String Prairie, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of String Prairie , we believe that it would have been located within present day Lee County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of String Prairie, you might consider that their post office opened in 1842.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned String Prairie was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the String Prairie post office opened in 1842.

We also found String Prairie in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
