Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Orleans had an population of 587 people. This is a decrease of 3.45% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 0.69% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Orleans had a population of 608 people. This makes Orleans the county's 6th most populous community.

The population of Orleans represents 0.02% of the population of Iowa (which has 3,046,355 people), making it the state's 411st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 608 people, the population of Orleans increased 4.29% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 583 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Orleans was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Orleans post office opened in 1894.

We also found Orleans on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Iowa (1911).
