From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for New Market was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the New Market post office opened in 1882.

We also found New Market in the book titled Sixth Biennial Report of the State Mine Inspectors, Two Years Ending June 30, 1893.
