Welcome to Mount Washington ...

So far, we found very little information about Mount Washington. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Mount Washington to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Mount Washington - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Mount Washington, please Contact Us.


While we don't have the exact location of Mount Washington , we believe that it would have been located within present day Adams County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Mount Washington, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1863.

Time Zone: The area where Mount Washington was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Communities Also Named Mount Washington ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 11 communities that are also named Mount Washington - they are located in California, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire, Ohio and Pennsylvania (3).

Adding Mount Washington to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Mount Washington was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Mount Washington post office opened in 1863.

We also found Mount Washington in the book titled Iowa State Gazetteer (1865).
