From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Buxton was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Buxton post office opened in 1901.

We also found Buxton on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Iowa (1911).
