Welcome to Argo ...

So far, we found very little information about Argo. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Argo to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Argo - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Argo, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Argo , we believe that it would have been located within present day Lucas County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Argo, you might consider that their post office opened in 1853.

Communities Also Named Argo ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Iowa communities named Argo: This one is located in Lucas County and the other is located in Scott County.

Beyond Iowa, there are 22 communities that are also named Argo - they are located in Alabama (2), Colorado, Delaware, Georgia (2), Illinois (2), Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, South Dakota, Texas (2), Washington and West Virginia.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Argo was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>
