The Commemorative Quarter for Iowa

Welcome to Ajax ...

So far, we found very little information about Ajax. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Ajax to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Ajax - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Ajax, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Ajax , we believe that it would have been located within present day Davis County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Ajax, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1881.

Time Zone: The area where Ajax was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

The Area Code where Ajax was located: 641

Communities Also Named Ajax ...

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Ajax, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Iowa's counties, including Davis, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
