Welcome to Strickland ...

So far, we found very little information about Strickland. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Strickland to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Strickland - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Strickland, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Strickland , we believe that it would have been located within present day Hall County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Strickland, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1893.

Time Zone: The area where Strickland was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

The Area Codes where Strickland was located: 770, 470 & 678<3>

Adding Strickland to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Strickland was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Strickland post office opened in 1893.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Strickland, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Georgia's counties, including Hall, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
<3>When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 770 code has been Overlayed with one of the following codes: 470 or 678. New phone numbers in the Strickland area will be assigned with one of these codes: 770, 470 or 678. As a result, placing a call in the Strickland area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
