Welcome to New Bridge ...

So far, we found very little information about New Bridge. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added New Bridge to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of New Bridge - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with New Bridge, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of New Bridge , we believe that it would have been located within present day Hall County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of New Bridge, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1833.

Time Zone: The area where New Bridge was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

The Area Codes where New Bridge was located: 770, 470 & 678<3>

Communities Also Named New Bridge ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Georgia communities named New Bridge: This one is located in Hall County and the other is located in Lumpkin County.

Beyond Georgia, there are 6 communities that are also named New Bridge - they are located in New Jersey, Newfoundland and Labrador, North Carolina and Oregon (2).

Adding New Bridge to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned New Bridge was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

X2X - From that list, the New Bridge post office opened in 1833.

We also found New Bridge on a map (with an unknown title) dated 1865.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about New Bridge, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Georgia's counties, including Hall, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
<3>When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 770 code has been Overlayed with one of the following codes: 470 or 678. New phone numbers in the New Bridge area will be assigned with one of these codes: 770, 470 or 678. As a result, placing a call in the New Bridge area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
