So far, we found very little information about Merritt. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>
We've added Merritt to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Merritt , we believe that it would have been located within present day Emanuel County<2>.
While we don't have a date for the founding of Merritt, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1895.
Time Zone: The area where Merritt was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 17 communities that are also named Merritt - they are located in Alabama, British Columbia, California, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Ontario, South Dakota, Tennessee and Washington.
