Unfortunately our sources aren't clear about the location of Hempstead other than they indicate that Hempstead would be found somewhere in Colquitt County, Georgia. From the Blevins / Hellbock List: The post office opened in 1879 and closed in 1905. Communities Also Named Hempstead ...We found four communities that share the name Hempstead. Within Georgia, the name Hempstead is unique. Beyond Georgia, we know of another four communities that are located throughout in the United States.
