Welcome to Don ...So far, we found very little information about Don. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Don to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. If you can help us with Don, please Contact Us. Don would have been located within present day Polk County<2>. The location of Don has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Don, you might get a feel for it by knowing that the earliest mention that we've found (so far) was on a map dated 1895. While the community is gone, the present day location for Don is 910 feet [277 m] above sea level.<4>. Time Zone: The area where Don was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time Note: If you travel west from Don (for example, toward Piedmont (AL)), you will leave Eastern Time and cross into the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT). If Don still existed, it would have been in the (770) area code.
