Welcome to Asbestos ...

So far, we found very little information about Asbestos. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Asbestos to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Asbestos , we believe that it would have been located within present day White County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Asbestos, you might consider that their post office opened in 1902.

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 4 communities that are also named Asbestos - they are located in Oregon and Quebec (3).

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Asbestos was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Asbestos post office opened in 1902.

We also found Asbestos on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Georgia (1911).
