Welcome to Ritta (aka 'Ritta Island') ...

So far, we found very little information about Ritta. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Ritta would have been located within present day Palm Beach County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Ritta, you might consider that their post office opened in 1912.

Time Zone: The area where Ritta was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

The Area Codes where Ritta was located: 561 & 728<3>

We originally found mention of Ritta in the FIPS-55 file. For more information, see the Referenced FIPS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Ritta was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Ritta post office opened in 1912. The Ritta post office closed in 1931.

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Ritta, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.

<3>When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code.
