At the time of the 2010 Census, Islamorada had a population of 6,119 people (or 8.37% of the total population of Monroe County). This makes Islamorada the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Islamorada represents 0.03% of the population of Florida (which has 18,801,310 people), making it the state's 195th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 6,119 people, the population of Islamorada decreased 10.62% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 6,846 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Islamorada was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Islamorada post office opened in 1908.
