Manatee County was founded January 9, 1855 and was created by taking area from Hillsborough County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Manatee had a population of 403,253 people. This is an increase of 24.68% since the last Census (which gave a population of 323,424 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Manatee represented 1.72% of the total population of Florida.
