Welcome to Gulf County ...Time Zone: The communities of Gulf County are split between two time zones. Some communities are located in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and they observe daylight saving time. The other communities are located in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and they observe daylight saving time. The community of Port Saint Joe is the Seat for Gulf County. Gulf County was founded June 6, 1925 and was created by taking area from Calhoun County. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Gulf had a population of 13,498 people. This is a decrease of 14.91% since the last Census (which gave a population of 15,863 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Gulf represented 0.08% of the total population of Florida.
