We have great-grandparents who lived in a small town in the southwest corner of their home county. During their lives, most hospitals and doctors were in the next county to the west. Almost all of the nearby churches and cemeteries were in the county to the south.

<1>Our distances are not driving distances, but are calculated as a 'straight-line' distance. A straight line distance ignores things like rivers, canyons, lakes, et cetera - it's truly a line from Point A (ie- Dove Creek) to Point B.Our distance measurements begin at a specific point in Dove Creek. The point we use is located at these GPS coordinates - Latitude: 37.7666, Longitude: -108.9062       In this case, the coordinates for Dove Creek have been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS).
