While we don't have a date for the founding of Dacono, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1907.

The city was incorporated September 23, 1908.

From Place Names in Colorado,<2> the origin of Dacono is described as "A coined word made up in 1901 from the first two letters of the names of three women by C.L. Baum, a local coal mine operator. The three names were Daisy, his wife's name, Cora Van Voorhies and Nora Brooks. Cora and Nora were friends of Mrs. Baum."

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Dacono had an population of 6,394 people. This is an increase of 54% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 112.07% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Dacono had a population of 4,152 people. This makes Dacono the county's 12th most populous community.

The population of Dacono represents 0.08% of the total population of Colorado (which has 5,029,196 people), making it the state's 83rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 4,152 people, the population of Dacono increased 37.71% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 3,015 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Dacono was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<9>

From that list, the Dacono post office opened in 1907.

We also found Dacono mentioned on a train schedule titled Union Pacific Railroad Time Tables (September 1924).
