The origin (or the toponymy) of Capitol City: Named by the founders with the hope that Capitol City would become the capitol of Colorado. While the community is gone, the present day location for Capitol City is 9,710 feet [2,960 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Capitol City is about 1¾ mile [or ~3 km] above sea level.
