So far, we found very little information about Skidoo. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Skidoo would have been located within present day Inyo County<2>.

Skidoo was founded in 1906.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Skidoo is 5,680 feet [1,731 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Skidoo is about 1 mile [or ~1¾ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Skidoo was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

We originally found mention of Skidoo in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Skidoo was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Skidoo, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.

<3>The elevation is an estimate for the area around Skidoo - it will be higher in some places and lower in others.
<4>When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 760 code has been Overlayed with the 442 area code. New phone numbers in the Skidoo area will be assigned with one of these codes: 760 or 442.
