Welcome to Plumas ...

So far, we found very little information about Plumas. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Plumas to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Plumas - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Plumas, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Plumas , we believe that it would have been located within present day Yuba County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Plumas, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1860.

Time Zone: The area where Plumas was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

Communities Also Named Plumas ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two California communities named Plumas: This one is located in Yuba County and the other is located in Lassen County.

Adding Plumas to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Plumas was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Plumas post office opened in 1860.
