So far, we found very little information about New Idria. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

New Idria would have been located within present day San Benito County<2>.



New Idria was established in 1857.

While the community is gone, the present day location for New Idria is 2,640 feet [805 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the elevation of New Idria is ½ mile above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where New Idria was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding New Idria to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of New Idria in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for New Idria was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the New Idria post office opened in 1869.

We also found New Idria in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
