Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Madera had an population of 66,134 people. This is an increase of 7.68% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 53.06% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Madera had a population of 61,416 people (or 40.71% of the total population of Madera County). This makes Madera the county's most populous community.

The population of Madera represents 0.16% of the total population of California (which has 37,253,956 people), making it the state's 136th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 61,416 people, the population of Madera increased 42.14% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 43,207 people).
