Welcome to Hazel Creek ...

So far, we found very little information about Hazel Creek. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Hazel Creek to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Hazel Creek - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Hazel Creek, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Hazel Creek , we believe that it would have been located within present day Shasta County<2>.

Hazel Creek was established in 1855.

Time Zone: The area where Hazel Creek was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Hazel Creek still existed, it would have been in the (530) area code.

Adding Hazel Creek to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Hazel Creek was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Hazel Creek post office opened in 1877.

We also found Hazel Creek in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Hazel Creek, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of California's counties, including Shasta, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
