While we don't have the exact location of Buchanan , we believe that it would have been located within present day Madera County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Buchanan, you might consider that their post office opened in 1873.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Buchanan was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Buchanan post office opened in 1873.
