While we don't have the exact location of Avena, we believe that it would have been located within present day Inyo County<1>.
The following counties adjoin and form the boundaries of Inyo County: Fresno, Kern, Mono, San Bernardino, Tulare, Clark (NV), Esmeralda (NV) & Nye (NV). The western boundary of the county is defined by the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
