So far, we found very little information about Maverick. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Maverick would have been located within present day Apache County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Maverick, you might consider that their post office opened in 1948.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Maverick is 7,800 feet [2,377 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Maverick is about 1½ mile [or ~2½ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Maverick was located is in the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST) and does not observe daylight saving time

Note: If you travel east from Maverick (for example, toward Reserve (NM)), you will leave Mountain Standard Time and cross into the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT). In addition, you will be moving from an area that does not observe daylight saving time to one that does.

We originally found mention of Maverick in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Maverick was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Maverick post office opened in 1948. The Maverick post office closed in 1967.
