The location of Lowell has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> When the people of Lowell referred to themselves (known as a demonym), they are believed to have used Lowellite<4> While the community is gone, the present day location for Lowell is 5,070 feet [1,545 m] above sea level.<5> In other words, the elevation of Lowell is about 1 mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Lowell was located is in the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST) and does not observe daylight saving time Note: If you leave Lowell and travel east, you will leave Mountain Standard Time and cross into the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT). In addition, you will be moving from an area that does not observe daylight saving time to one that does. The location where Lowell once stood is in the (520) area code.
