While we don't have a date for the founding of Bonita, you might consider that their post office opened in 1884.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Bonita is 4,540 feet [1,384 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Bonita is about ¾ mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Bonita was located is in the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST) and does not observe daylight saving time

We originally found mention of Bonita in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Bonita was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Bonita post office opened in 1884. The Bonita post office closed in 1955.
