How Far From Secrest to ...
We spend a lot of time looking through Gazetteers & Almanacs that were published in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Many of the Gazetteers include the distance from a community such as Secrest to various places of note, such as the White House.
With a nod to our favorite Gazetteers and using the location of where the historic<4> community of Secrest once stood, the straight-line distance<5> beginning in Secrest and extending to:
- Pine Bluff, which is the Seat of Jefferson County, lies 18 miles [29 km]<5> to the south. If you could walk a straight line from Secrest to Pine Bluff, with an average speed<6> of 2.2 miles [3.5 km] per hour, it would take just over a day to make the trip. A horse and buggy averaging 3.2 miles [5.1 km] per hour would take five to six hours.
- Little Rock, which is the State Capital of Arkansas, lies 24 miles [38.6 km] to the northwest (NW). The buggy would take most of a day and walking would take just about two full days.
