Columbia County was founded in 1852. Columbia was created by taking area from Lafayette, Hempstead and Ouachita Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Columbia had a population of 23,496 people. This is a decrease of 4.3% since the last Census (which gave a population of 24,552 people in 2010).
