The location of Chaplin has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Chaplin, you might consider that their post office opened in 1892. While the community is gone, the present day location for Chaplin is 1,250 feet [381 m] above sea level.<4>.
