The location of Argenta has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


Argenta was established in 1866 and was incorporated in 1890.

The origin (or the toponymy) of Argenta: From the Latin word for silver: 'argentum'.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Argenta is 290 feet [88 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: The area where Argenta was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Argenta was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Argenta post office opened in 1871.

We also found Argenta in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
