Ricks would have been located within present day Cherokee County<2>.
The location of Ricks has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>
While we don't have a date for the founding of Ricks, you might consider that their post office opened in 1886.
While the community is gone, the present day location for Ricks is 600 feet [183 m] above sea level.<4>.
Time Zone: The area where Ricks was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time
Note: If you travel east from Ricks (for example, toward Etna (GA)), you will leave Central Time and cross into the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT).

We originally found mention of Ricks in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.
From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Ricks was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>
From that list, the Ricks post office opened in 1886.
We also found Ricks in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
