Time Zone: Cherokee County lies in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time.

The community of Centre is the Seat for Cherokee County.

Cherokee County was founded in 1836.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Cherokee had a population of 26,254 people. This is an increase of 1.02% since the last Census (which gave a population of 25,989 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Cherokee represented 0.54% of the total population of Alabama.
