The population of Grimes represents 0.01% of the total population of Alabama (which has 4,779,736 people), making it the state's 321st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 558 people, the population of Grimes increased 21.57% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 459 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Grimes was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Grimes post office opened in 1893.

We also found Grimes on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Alabama (1911).
