The community of Ozark is the Seat for Dale County.

Dale County was founded in 1824. Dale was created by taking area from Covington and Henry Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Dale had a population of 49,294 people. This is a decrease of 1.9% since the last Census (which gave a population of 50,251 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Dale represented 1.05% of the total population of Alabama.

While it makes interesting reading all by itself, it should be of special interest to genealogists and family historians looking for people who were either affected by or directly involved in such tragedies.
