At the time of the 2010 Census, Benton had a population of 49 people. This makes Benton the county's 7th most populous community.
With a 2010 count of 49 people, the population of Benton increased 4.26% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 47 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Benton was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>
From that list, the Benton post office opened in 1833.
We also found Benton in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
