The Commemorative Quarter for Wyoming

Welcome to Jireh ...

So far, we found very little information about Jireh. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Jireh to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Jireh - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Jireh, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Jireh , we believe that it would have been located within present day Niobrara County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Jireh, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1908.

Time Zone: The area where Jireh was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Jireh still existed, it would have been in the (307) area code.

Adding Jireh to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Jireh was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Jireh post office opened in 1908.

We also found Jireh on a map titled Shell Oil Road Map for Wyoming (1956).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Jireh, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Wyoming's counties, including Niobrara, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
