With a 2010 count of 273 people, the population of Nichols decreased 11.07% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 307 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Nichols was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Nichols post office opened in 1919.
