Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Socorro had an population of 34,433 people. This is an increase of 7.56% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 26.82% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Socorro had a population of 32,013 people. This makes Socorro the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Socorro represents 0.13% of the population of Texas (which has 25,145,561 people), making it the state's 90th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 32,013 people, the population of Socorro increased 17.9% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 27,152 people).
