Welcome to Clinton ...So far, we found very little information about Clinton. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Clinton to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Clinton - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Clinton, please Contact Us. Clinton was located While we don't have the exact location of Clinton , we believe that it would have been located within present day DeWitt County<2>. While we don't have a date for the founding of Clinton, you might consider that their post office opened in 1849. When the people of Clinton referred to themselves (known as a demonym), they are believed to have used Clintonian<3> Time Zone: The area where Clinton was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time Clinton would have been located in the (361) area code. Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Texas communities named Clinton: This one is located in DeWitt County and the other is located in Hunt County. Beyond Texas, there are 59 communities that are also named Clinton - they are located in Alabama, Arkansas, British Columbia, California (2), Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana (2), Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan (2), Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri (3), Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey (3), New York (2), North Carolina (2), Ohio (5), Oklahoma, Ontario, Pennsylvania (6), Prince Edward Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah (2), Virginia, Washington, West Virginia (2) and Wisconsin. From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Clinton was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4> We also found Clinton in the book titled Table of U.S. Post Offices in the United States (Jan. 1851).
