DeWitt County was founded in 1846. DeWitt was created by taking area from Goliad, Gonzales and Victoria Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> DeWitt had a population of 20,160 people. This is an increase of 0.53% since the last Census (which gave a population of 20,054 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, DeWitt represented 0.08% of the total population of Texas.
