The location of Whitehall has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<2> While we don't have a date for the founding of Whitehall, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895. From the Census Estimates for 2019, Whitehall has a population of 1,147 people<3> (see below for details). Whitehall is 4,360 feet [1,329 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Whitehall is about ¾ mile [or ~1¼ km] above sea level. Time Zone: Whitehall lies in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time Whitehall is located in the (406) area code. Population Details ...Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Whitehall had an population of 1,147 people. This is an increase of 10.5% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 9.87% since the 2000 Census). At the time of the 2010 Census, Whitehall had a population of 1,038 people (which is 9.1% of the total population of Jefferson County). This makes Whitehall the county's 2nd most populous community. The population of Whitehall represents 0.1% of the population of Montana (which has 989,415 people), making it the state's 52nd most populous community. With a 2010 count of 1,038 people, the population of Whitehall has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,044 people).
