At the time of the 2010 Census, Iatan had a population of 45 people. This makes Iatan the county's 17th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 45 people, the population of Iatan decreased 16.67% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 54 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Iatan was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Iatan post office opened in 1855.

We also found Iatan in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
